Appearing in The Penn Stater this month, a Laura Coyle illustration on the editor's story of the trials and eventual rewards of knitting. I enjoyed researching for this piece, and it gave me a momentary desire to run out and get myself some yarn and needles, but that will have to go on a future to-do list. I'll just go on admiring people who can do this well and have even more appreciation for the hand knit pieces I have at home.
I leave you with the ultimate superstar knitter of all time, Joan Crawford:
Only Joan could match her knitting project so perfectly to her surroundings.
If you received this Laura Coyle e-promo in your inbox today and it brought you here, Welcome! There are illustration samples scattered here on my blog and you can view my portfolio at coyleart.com or on my agent, Kiki Pollard's site at alexanderpollard.com. Class registration is open! Visit ReneePearson.com for more information on this special 4 week class in Adobe Illustrator, geared toward scrapbooking and digital crafting. I'm having a blast designing this course and I'm so excited for the launch. Renee Pearson's website is a fantastic place to learn. The video lessons are accompanied by weekly live video chats with the instructor on ReneeTV, so everyone gets the chance to ask questions and be a part of the class community - brilliant! My class begins on April 16th - don't miss it!
My friend Renee Pearson is a Photoshop guru and for years now she's been bringing her expertise to the world of digital scrapbooking and crafting. She's written some of the most popular books on the subject and traveled extensively teaching workshops in Photoshop and PS Elements. In the video above Renee is at the CHA 2010 show demonstrating a project using istockphoto images and the Wacom tablet. Renee is an inspiration; she's an engaging teacher, a talented artist and always on the cutting edge where art and technology meet.
Renee and I have been talking for awhile about having me teach a class in my favorite software, Adobe Illustrator. Now that Renee has an online school for digital training, it's about to happen! You can visit her school at ReneePearson.com.
I am excited to be working on my beginning Illustrator class, it's called "Step by Step Design With Illustrator." I've worked in this program for years (since version 5!) and I'm having a great time designing and organizing a method for teaching the software that will appeal to digital crafters and give everybody some techniques to get them up and running and feeling inspired to bring their own creations to life.
Here's something from days gone by, the wall phone. This is from an illustration I did for a series of Hallmark cards called "Back in the Day," and it's still a favorite.
